Whipped Basil Butter - 52 Simple but Next Level Dishes

Pin It Now!

It's hardly "Birth of a Nation", but today I want to start a new "52" series.  I have more than a 1,500,000 (yes, a Million and a half) page views on my "52 Uses for a Rotisserie Chicken" (well over 90 uses now BTW), and my latest "52 Grilling Time Secret Extras" is growing in numbers at a faster rate than the Chicken Recipes.  But, as important to me as the numbers are, in fact... Once I started making recipes with the protein already cooked (Rotisserie Chicken), I learned an awful lot about cooking, seasoning, sauces, etc. when I challenged myself to take the same ingredient and make something different (better) each week.

So today, on the surface, this is incredibly easy... Only 3 ingredients, no heating, cooking; just mixing and serving.  BUT in fact, when you make this you set yourself apart from "just" a home cook.

This, and dishes like this, takes your cooking, your table, to the Next Level.  They may only take minutes to put together

And that's what the series is going to be about.  Little extras that you can do to make your table a little special.  maybe you want something for a dinner party, or something just to make you feel like a cook.  And of course sometimes you want the people you cook for to Ooh and Aaah!

So come on back next Friday and see something little and simple (and wait for the Oohs and Aahs)!

OK... Here's what I did...

Whipped
Basil Butter

Ingredients

1 Stick Butter, Softened to Room Temperature
1/2 Small Shallot, finely minced
2 TBS Fresh Minced Basil

Combine all ingredients into a Food Processor or mini chopper and pulse until well combined.
Serve with Dinner Rolls and ENJOY!

**************

Like I said, simple but will easily dress up a batch of store bought dinner rolls.  Nothing special, takes much less than 5 minutes but will take your table to the next level!

Very easy to adapt... How about Mint Butter?
Or maybe make Chive Butter
or instead of Shallots, try some Lemon Zest!

Got any more ideas???

And BTW, what do you put out on your table that is simple but you consider "Next Level" Cooking?

So come back in a week and I think I will make a little HOT Thai Chili Pepper Oil!

This recipe has been added to my growing list of "52 Breakfast Ideas!"

It's the most important meal of the day.  From fancy to simple, there are always ways to dress up a breakfast dish.  These are the meals that make Bed and Breakfast Inns legendary (and usually easier than you think).

Here's your chance to make your guests Ooh and Aah!

This simple recipe has also been added to my growing list of "52 Simple but Next Level Dishes"!

Kind of an odd title for these posts. But the longer sentence is... Simple recipes that are easy and inexpensive that will take your cooking to the next level... Things like easy pickled items (I always have a jar of Pickled Red Onions for sandwiches in my fridge). Or how about the easiest bread to make in the world... Beer Bread that is tasty on it's own but also makes a wonderful open face pizza style sandwich... With easy to make Tomato Sauce. Or how about Roasting Garlic for a spread on toast points for a unique appetizer. Infusing Oil with Herbs or spices or spicy peppers. Or how about making your own BBQ sauce. Nothing sets you apart as a grill master like setting out a jar of your own specialty BBQ Sauce.

You get the idea. These recipes are very simple, take very little time but will set you apart as a better cook...
