This is so incredibly easy... And just about the most amazing thing you are ever going to eat.
Why don't I make this every day???
And when I say easy, this actually takes less "hands on" time than it would take to fry up a pound of bacon.
It's baked in the oven!
So many reasons to bake bacon...
Easy
Clean up is Fast and Easy
PERFECT flat look every time
Crisp and perfect texture
And besides, the pros, professional chefs make their bacon this way.
OK... Here's what I did...
Bourbon Maple
Pepper BACON
1 Pound Thick Slice Bacon
1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
1 Shot Good Kentucky Sippin Bourbon
Several grinds of a Pepper Mill, Freshly Cracked Pepper, Most Course Grind possible
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- Line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil
- Lay out the bacon, each slice flat, single layer
- In a small sauce pan, over medium heat, combine the maple syrup and Bourbon, stir to mix, heat to just below simmer
- Generously brush the bourbon/syrup mix on the bacon.
- Generously grind the pepper onto the bourbon/syrup coated bacon
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, checking to be sure the glaze does not burn (sugar in the syrup) and that the bacon is cooked thoroughly. No need to flip as the Bourbon/Syrup will ooze and coat thoroughly as it cooks.
- Remove from oven, move the bacon to a paper towel lined plate to allow fat to drain for just a few minutes. Any longer and the paper will stick to the bacon
- Serve warm and ENJOY!!!
If you can possibly force yourself not to just chow the bacon down fresh from the oven... Come back to morrow to see my Spinach Bacon (Bourbon Maple Pepper Bacon of course) Tomato Fritatta... Oh My!
Oh and this also made about the best BACON Cheeseburger you could imagine!
