Easy Blue Cheese Sauce ala Rock Recipes

Pin It Now!

Fast Food... That's what first attracted me to this sauce.  I love a blue cheese sauce and had this bookmarked as a recipe I wanted to make.  Saturday, Jackie and I had an art fair to go to (Ah, the suburbs).  I had about 20 minutes to whip up a quickie lunch.

Burgers on the grill

Whatever condiments you have (I had a BBQ sauce and some pickle relish)
Just a bit planning ahead, I had some fresh made buns that I made yesterday.

But the star of this lunch is this AMAZING Blue Cheese Sauce!

This is another rare complete and TOTAL steal.  Nothing changed at all.

So, my policy is to not print the recipe, but give you the links to find your way to the blog I stole it from... Barry of the ROCK RECIPES Blog.

I love everything about Barry's blog.  First, it is very clean, professional look.  The navigation is very easy, with a complete recipe list and even a "best Of" option.  Barry is a family man, with a wife, 2 kids and the mortgage that goes with it.  He also loved great food!

He is a prolific blogger, just passing the 600 blog post mark a couple of months ago.  He has been posting for 4 years and everything is indeed drool worthy...

But, while surfing through his site, I was captivated (and spent about half an hour) reading over his posts on gingerbread houses.

OMG, such details, such a wonderful hobby!  Barry does not use a mold, instead he makes copies of houses from the town.  BTW, Barry lives in St. John, Newfoundland, Canada.  With his multi-year blog, you can trace a few years worth of his houses...

"Detailed instructions for making GingerBread Houses"
He does a wonderful photo tradition with the house of the year, and a shot of his kids looking into the window.  I am picturing a 20 year project (and then the grandkids) series of photos!

Barry, I am in awe.  I especially enjoy the idea you shared of using extra spices if you do not intend to eat the art, as the lighting will warm the spices, adding such a wonderful image of the smells of Christmas!!!

post on making an Easy Blue Cheese Sauce!!!
Which brings us back to Barry's Blue Cheese Sauce.  Rich and creamy (sour cream, white wine, shallots).  But let me quote Barry on what he does with the sauce...
a versatile sauce that can be used on steaks or as a dip for vegetables or crusty bread. It is also very good tossed with pasta as a side dish to serve with steak or roast beef. I actually toss this sauce with cooked penne and thinly sliced rare steak for one of my favorite pasta dishes.

Such a beautiful sauce, seems a shame to only use it on fast food (well, my version of fast food).  Took about as long to make the sauce as it did to make the burgers.  Burgers, steak, pasta; a sauce for all... This is on my permanent "Make Again" list.

Thanks Barry, love the sauce and really enjoyed your blog.  Personal, with just about perfect recipes!  Love every bit about your blog and your life!!!

  1. Thanks so much for the shout out! On a related note it is strange that you should mention Gingerbread Houses today in particular. I found out yesterday that someone had stolen one of my gingerbread house photos and submitted it to a contest on Marta Stewart website last year. Of over 400 submissions to the contest mine was featured in the top 26 on the Martha Stewart website with someone else taking credit for my work!
