Tang Creamsicle Ice Cream Float - 52 BBQ and Grilling Secret Extras Dessert Drinks

You must be 50 years or older to appreciate the slap to the face of nostalgia that this particular drink brings to mind.

Double nostalgia, the combination of Orange and Vanilla Ice Cream brings to mind those delicious Dreamsickle bars from my youth.

But the Citrus drink mix "Tang" makes this doubly nostalgic!

Picture if you will... The year is 1962.  John Kennedy is President, the Beatles are in Germany dreaming of America, Marilyn Monroe dies and Tom Cruise was born...

And John Glenn drank TANG in Outer Space!

I will admit that I, along with millions of other kids drank my TANG along with John Glenn!  It was the Space Program and everything they touched was golden!

I actually made these on one of the hottest days of the year.  I was BBQing and the table was in the shade, but it was still about 90 degrees at dinner time.  SO, who says you can't serve little shooters of Ice Cream as an appetizer.  Cool refreshing and an incredible conversation starter as everyone at the table had their own version of Five Year Old Me pretending to drink Tang with the astronauts.

It was the 60's after all!

OK... Here's what I did...

Tang Creamsicle
Ice Cream Float

Ingredients
  • 1/2 Cup Whole Milk
  • 1 TBS Tang Orange Drink Powder (Just Like the Astronauts Drank)
  • 1 Large Scoop Vanilla Ice Cream
Cooking Directions
  1. Add the Milk and Tang in a Blender (I use a food processor) and Blend away
  2. Pour into a "rocks Glass"
  3. Add a Scoop of Ice Cream and serve quick if in the heat
  4. Serve COLD and ENJOY!
Alternative Recipe...

make a shake...

To make a Tang Creamsickle Shake, Add everything including the ice cream scoop to the blender (Food Processor) and blend away (or Process).

Pick the hottest day of the year and serve as an appetizer at your BBQ...

You will be a minor god to your friends.
